I drove so carefully on the road to Shiga Kogen because it was snowing heavily in the strong north wind. A skier I met this morning said, “I planned to go to Okushiga today, but I heard the gondola is closed now, so I moved to Mt. Yakebitai.” The gondola of Mt. Yakebitai is set along the valley, so it was open at 8:30 a.m. as scheduled this morning.

People made big spray of snow on the groomed slope of Giant Slalom Course (Photo) which was covered with 10cm fresh snow. In the off-piste area on the skiers left, there was 60cm of fluffy snow.

There was also 60cm fresh snow in the off-piste slope of Middle Course (Photo). However, the snow was too fluffy, so some people were stuck in the deep snow. The off-piste area of Super Giant Slalom Course had 70cm of fresh snow as well.

A snowboarder from Nara Prefecture (Photo) gave me the greeting, “I always enjoy your reports! I got the advance ticket of Mt. Yakebitai at your website, Snownavi. Olympic Course was so nice because there was 20cm of fresh snow on its flat slope. Do you know whether Yakebi Wall will be open or not today?” Yakebi Wall was open at 10:40 a.m. today after that.
