Sanosaka REPORT

2023.02.24130cm / Partly Cloudy

A snowboarder from Tokyo (pictured) told me, “I’m a fan of your site! I have been coming to Sanosaka for about 14 years now. I love the Carving Slope.” It was a mild and cloudy morning, with a bit of sun shining through light clouds. The cold weather has eased since yesterday, and it felt very comfortable out on the slopes.

The impressively groomed Carving Slope (first photo) and the Paradise Slope (pictured) had moderately firm wet snow surfaces with a powdery feel. My edges gripped the snow well, and my skis slid effortlessly at a good speed. The Paradise Downhill had groomed wet snow that was very well-packed.

I spoke with a skier from Tokyo (pictured), who commented, “I love your site. I’m here skiing at Sanosaka for three days beginning yesterday. The pictures of the Lake Down Course in your report the other day were great.” He added, “Yesterday, there was a ski mountaineer skiing up New Paradise (pictured, back right).

My conversations on the mountain continued with two visitors from Tokyo (pictured, left) and Aichi (pictured, right). They told me they were fans of the Snownavi site and that they had to work in the evening, so they came to Hakuba Sanosaka to get as many runs in as possible in the morning. They also said they were really enjoying the conditions. On the “Yuki no Hi” (Snow Day) event this weekend, 2/26 (Sun.), there will be a prize drawing for an assortment of prizes, including a season pass for next year. The drawing is open to those holding a one-day lift ticket.
