Today marked the seventh straight day of sunny skies, and even the morning temperature was warm enough that I wondered how to dress to go outside. On the slopes, I ran into the wife of the owner of Gyoza no Hosokawa (pictured), who told me, “I love your site. Sanosaka is a great place to come when I have some free time. I have to head to work soon though.”

The groomed Paradise Slope was pleasant to ski at speed, with a moderately loose, groomed granular snow surface. Paradise Downhill, which sits in the shade, was also groomed, but had moderately firm granular snow. Both courses still had plenty of snow were skiable without any concerns.

The Carving Slope (pictured) had a moderately packed, granular snow surface first thing in the morning, but soon started to loosen up in the sun. I spoke with Mr. Nakahara, the principal of AZ Snowboard School, and the owner of BOARD TUNE Yukizo, who both told me they are fans of Snownavi, and added, “We’ve been practicing slalom at Sanosaka this season. The athletes competing in the 41st JSBA All Japan Snowboard Championships to be held at Sanosaka from 3/9 to 3/12 are also practicing here.”

I also crossed paths with a skier from Kanagawa Prefecture (pictured) who’s a member of the JSC Hakuba Sanosaka Racing Center. She told me she’ll be entering Kokugakuin University this spring, and is going to set her sights on winning intercollegiate and student competitions. There are only a little more than two weeks left until Hakuba Sanosaka’s final day of the season.
