A skier from Aichi Prefecture who I met in Shiga Kogen on 1/13 (Fri) gave me the greeting, “I always enjoy your reports!” He also said, “I will move to Mt. Yokote from Yama-no-eki Station by bus after riding in Giant. You can get to Yama-no-eki Station soon by the resort gondola from the bottom area of Giant.
[Giant Area, Giant]
When I got off on of my skis to take photos in Giant Area, I was almost slipping on the hard corn snow slope. The lower steep slope of Giant, which has the maximum degree of 34 degrees, looked like a wall. Experts were going down in the slope with sharp edging.
[Giant Area, Giant]
I moved to Hasuike Ski Area through Giant Connecting Course. I heard people saying “There are various courses here.” and “I have to check the way back to avoid losing my way.” The groomed slopes of Hasuike A, B Course and Maruike B, C Course were slashy and in corn snow condition. Those courses were quiet, so I could enjoy riding comfortably.
[Main Area, Sun Valley]
Main Area in Sun Valley (Photo) facing the frozen lake of Biwa-ike was very firm and in corn snow condition. The lower part on the skier’s left side was nicely soft and wet. When I came back to Giant, the hard slopes melted nicely thanks to the calm sunny weather.
