Today marked the start of a two-day cosplay event (pictured) taking place over the weekend. I spoke with a staff member of JIBA (Japan Ita Board Association), the organizer of the event, who told me, “This year, due to the success of both the game and anime, Uma Musume cosplay is very popular.” The event was held on a calm morning under a hazy, spring-like sky.
[South]

The moderately firm, groomed granular snow surface on the East Slope (pictured) was beginning to soften up early, but my edges bit well, allowing for comfortable turns. The south-facing, groomed South Slope was soft and slushy from the first part of the morning, but my skis slid well, and I enjoyed skiing at a high speed.
[East Slope]

The Sunny Valley Course (pictured) also had a groomed granular snow surface of spring-like slush. There was a section of exposed soil on the south-facing section of the run past the junction with the White Ribbon Course. The further down the slope I went, the thicker the loose, soft surface layer became, but there were almost no other areas with thin snow cover or exposed soil in the middle (pictured) to the end of the course.

I spoke with three people from Shizuoka and Nagano prefectures (pictured), who told me, “We love your site! We’re season ticket holders for Iwatake.” The central parking lot was almost full by 9:30 a.m., and there was a long line at the gondola base station. Tomorrow, 3/12 (Sun.), Hakuba Sports will hold a Snowboard & Binding Test Event starting at 10:00, with a participation fee of JPY1,000.
