On 1/15 (Mon), “Dosojin Matsuri (Fire Festival)” will be held in Nozawa Onsen. This spectacular festival which is one of the biggest Dosojin festivals in Japan has a long history of 300 years and is designated to Japan Important Folk Cultural Properties. You will be amazed by the exciting performance held by villagers who try to burn down the shrine buildings and men of unlucky ages (25 & 42 years old) who try to protect the buildings from them.
